Richard married Mary Beatrice Entwisle and they had 3 daughters, Cecil Elinor, Gladys Sybil Evelyn and Ruth Violet Esther, all born at Highcliffe. He had served in South Africa.
Richard inherited The Hall, Angle, Pembrokeshire, where he made major architectural changes to both The Hall and on the estate. These included the building of the eclectic Globe Hotel. The estate included Cheveration Farm, Hubberton Farm, the Golden Estate in Pembroke and Wallaston Farm in Pembroke St. Mary.
The Hall was requisitioned for the Canadian Air Force in WWII, his elderly widow Mrs Mirehouse being permitted to continue to live in an attic.
