From the Nelson Mail (New Zealand) - [Pamela Fell born 1913 Nelson, New Zeland the daughter of Charles Richmond Fell was killed in an air crash 7 5 1942]. Part of the report reads 'On the 7th May 1942 a Commercial flight of a Locheed Electra 10A Twin Engined aircraft named "Kereru" from Wellington to Nelson crashed in the Mount Richmond area with five people aboard. Hundreds of people were involved in the search for the aircraft and after several days in the very poor weather a search aircraft located the crash site. It took several more days to recover the bodies from the mountains, Miss Fell being the lightest was carried on the back of a volunteer. The weather was so bad on the way down the bodies were tied to trees so that the wild animals would not attack them. An investigation into the crash found that human error and poor weather conditions were to blame - in the strong winds, the aircraft had blown way off course.'
