Surprisingly, she is listed as Mrs Mary Ann Fearnley of Northgate Street in the 1844 Directory of Ipswich. I don't think Mrs implies marriage; (we know she didn't marry), I think it is a abbreviation for Mistress, a term of respect applied to older spinsters.
