In 1914, Capt. Green was Adjutant of a Training Battalion of the Herefordshire Regiment (Volunteers) before transferring to regular army (South Wales Borderers 24th Foot) on 19th September, 1914 Pembroke Dock. Awarded the MBE 1st January, 1919 for action in France and Flanders. Demobilised 1st April 1920 by Royal Warrant.
In the 1939 Register his wife is not with him and it appears she has returned to Australia.
