In 'A Winter Cruise' printed for private circulation in 1922 by (undisclosed) Urban Hanlon Broughton he claims to have first met E. St. George Cobbold in Felixstowe (where he was constructing a dock) when he was a cadet at Sandhurst. 'He later soldiered all over the world, went through the South African War, and commanded his regiment, the York and Lancaster, in the Great War.'
