Adele was the sister of Fred Astaire. She and Charles had a daughter in 1933 and 2 sons in 1937 all of whom died within a few hours of birth. They lived at Lismore Castle which had been given to them as a wedding present by the 9th Duke. A condition in Charles's will gave the castle to his nephew, Andrew should Adele re-marry which she did in 1947, when she wed Kingman Douglass.
