Ethel was the 11th holder of these titles. At the death of Lord Stonehaven (1941) the titles Viscount Stonehaven (created 1938), and Baron Stonehaven (created 1925), both in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, as well as the Baird of Urie Baronetcy, in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom, passed to the couple's son, James. The Countess of Kintore died the day after her 100th birthday
