Became George Sydney Strode Strode (by royal licence and adopted the arms of Strode) in 1897 when he inherited Newnham, in accordance with his grandfather's will.  Granted permission to quarter arms Strode with Lowe.  Elected Provincial Grand Master for Devonshire in 1904.

Celebrated his Silver Wedding at Old Newnham on 26th January 1912

Maj. G S S Lowe is said to have been the Superintendent of a new hospital opened under canvas in Plymouth in May 1919 at which Dr Down was the Medical Officer.

Entered the South Devon Regiment of Militia (later 3rd Bn The Devonshire Regiment) as a Lieutenant 27th November 1880; promoted Captain 3rd March 1888; retired with rank of Honorary Major 1897. Instructor of musketry.

Buried 13th June 1950 at St. Mary, Plynpton.
