Baptised 01 07 1825 St Marylebone, Westminster, London. Research suggests that he fought in the American Civil War (he landed in New York on Feb.22nd 1849) prior to returning to get married in Southwark in 1851. In 1892 he applied for American naturalisation, it is thought so as to qualify for a Federal Veterans Pension which in the event was not granted. He had become a Sergeant Major in the 41st New York Volunteers but died only 4 years later in the Westminster Union Workhouse.
