Rosemary's father was Air Marshal Sir John Maitland Salmond born 17th July 1881 who died 16th April 1968 and her mother was Hon. Monica Margaret Grenfell born 6th August 1893 who died 17th June 1973. They had married on 2nd June 1924. Sir John had been married before in 1913 to Helen Amy Joy Lumsden who died in 1916.
