1962-63, attended Peabody School, Cambridge, Mass., USA. 1972 Captain of Running at Denstone College (a Woodard School). 1973 travelled and worked in USA and Canada. Treasurer of King's College, London, Engineering Society. 1974-75
Technical Officer, Chief Civil Engineer's Office, British Rail, Paddington Station, W2. 1977 BSc., Engineering 1977-80 Site Engineer, Sladden International (Botswana). Returned to England August 1980 and worked as freelance civil engineer until January 1981. February 1981 joined British Rail (Chief Civil Engineer's Office, Euston).
