Inherited Kentwell Hall from his father in 1782. He married Sidney Arabella Cotton (1776-1848) in 1796 and divorced her in 1812. He was High Sheriff of Suffolk in 1812, sold Kentwell in 1823 and died bankrupt, in a debtors' prison in 1826.
