In 1913 he was living at 26 Eyre St, Chesterfield but the War Office shows his next of kin address as 175 Steel's Lane, Bremmington Common, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. In his short military service he fought with his unit at Loos, Salonika and Noyelles. He was wounded early in November just before the signing of the Armistice and died of his wounds on 16th December.
