Only daughter of John Galbraith of Campbeltown (at one time Provost of Campbeltown and co-founder of the Scotia Distillery in 1832. The distillery is now called Glen Scotia.) He was born in 1809 and died in 1881. James' mother was Mary Colville McEwing born in 1808 in Argyleshire, Scotland and died 1900. They had married 25 6 1838 in Argyleshire, Scotland.
