Annie, her parents' second daughter, accompanied them when they returned to Europe in 1846 on board the 'General Hewitt'. They settled initially in Ireland at Buncrana, Donegal. Following the death of her father, the family moved to England where they lived in Cheltenham and Clifton, Bristol before going to St. Helier, Jersey.
In the 1911 Census, Annie Matilda Anley was living with her sister Caroline Augusta Gore (single) born 1852 Ireland in St Helier, Jersey.
