ANOTHER IPSWICH LOSS
Following closely upon the death of Alderman Nathaniel Catchpole, the Father of the Ipswich Corporation, came the news yesterday of the passing away of Alderman Robert Stocker Paul, the head of the firm of Messrs R & W Paul Ltd, corn merchants, of Ipswich and London. The deceased gentleman died at Port Said on Wednesday on his way to Ceylon, from congestion of the lungs. He had been an Alderman for years and was a magistrate and a prominent Liberal. Only the previous day his brother Mr W F Paul was made an Alderman of the borough. The sad news was conveyed to the townspeople at the Sessions Court by the Mayor (Mr F C Ward) who said that the intelligence had filled him with extreme regret and pain, for Mr Paul's death was a great loss to the town.
