Educated at Rugby and St John's College, Cambridge. All Francis and Freda's children died without issue so the line died out. The 1901 census taken on 31st March shows him aged 49 and living in Ipswich St. Matthew with his wife Fredrica (or Frederica) and daughter Gladys. A 1912 directory shows him in Westbury Lodge, Anglesea Road, Ipswich.
