Caroline was the daughter of Rear Admiral Charles Feilding. She and Ernest had two sons, William Henry Edgcumbe, 4th Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, born 5th July 1832 at Mount Edgcumbe in Cornwall, died 25th September 1917, and Lt. Col. Charles Ernest Edgcumbe born 23rd October 1838, died 14th September 1915.
