Reginald's father was Reginald (Reggie) Wilfred Fairs, (1925-1976), and his mother was Marie Dorothy Beckett (1927-2011). They had married on 26th December 1945 in Ipswich, Suffolk. Reginald had a brother, David John Fairs who was born on 1st May 1954 in Ipswich and who died on 30th June 1981 also in Ipswich.
