#12214, George HIBBERT

Born 1757 in Manchester
Died 1837 in Munden House, Aldenham, Hertfordshire

The fifth son of Robert and Abigail Hibbert.

Outside of parliament, George was elected both a Fellow of the Royal Society and a Fellow of the Society of the Arts. Later he was a founder of the London Institution and was its President from 1827 to 1835. George was a great collector of books and exotic plants but had to sell most of his collections when the family moved to Munden House, Aldenham in Hertfordshire which he inherited from his wife's uncle in 1829. He died at Munden House and was buried at Aldenham.
