Ann was the daughter of Silk Merchant William Selwin (1686-1768) of Down Hall, Essex. Ann's sister Jane (Selwin) Caygill was mother to Lady Jane Ibbetson (1744-1816) who was the wife of Sir James Ibbetson 2nd Bt. (1746-4/9/1795)
