Fausset arrived in Malta on 14th November 1890 from Navan, Co Meath, Ireland. He took up garrison duty the following year and was promoted Surgeon Major on the 6th March 1892. After the birth of Silvia he returned to England on leave on 29th September 1893 and stayed in England until 12th December that year. His son was born the following year and by 1895 he had become the Officer in Charge of Citta Vecchia Station Hospital. At that time he was living at 24 Strada Bastione Mdina.
1896 saw him back on garrison duty until 5th January 1897 when he returned to Thames District, England. He was reduced to half-pay on account of ill health on 18th December 1899 but was restored to full pay on 26th June the following year. He retired on 8th December 1900.
