George John Dupuis became a King's Scholar at Eton in 1808. By 1819 he was an Assistant Master, a post he held until 1834. During this time he was ordained (at Ely) Deacon in 1824 and Priest in 1831, in which year he married, and took his bride to the Rectory at Hemingby, Lincolnshire where he was incumbent until 1840. In the mean time he had been appointed Lower Master at Eton (1834) and Fellow in 1835. He became Rector of Creeting, Suffolk in 1840, a post he held until moved to Worplesdon, Surrey in 1862 where he took over a parish previously cared for by his father in law. Appointed Vice Provost of Eton, (autumn 1868 to autumn 1884) he stayed at Worplesdon until retirement in 1878. He died in 1884 and his long and valuable service to the College was recognised by his burial in the cloisters.
