Father Henry John MIREHOUSE (21 Dec 1835 - 18 Jun 1905)

Simon Dickens #13594 writes:

My Grandparents had their own coat-of-arms granted at the College of Heralds in Queen Victoria Street, London, which incorporated a broken dagger as the crest (the Mirehouses was a full one). I have it here in a frame, and the one my Father continued on with, which I will show you.  I have always felt this should be made clear. The last entry I recall seeing in Debretts mentions the birth of my Grandmother in January 1897, as the only issue of the 2nd marriage of Henry John Mirehouse to Emily Hewlitt Hall, a school teacher. Nothing further was mentioned of her marriage in 1919 to George Frederick Dickens, DSC, RNR. They had three children, Joan, Desmond (my Father) and Nigel. Sadly both Joan and Nigel tragically died in 1942 and 1947, leaving my Dad as the sole survivor. Had he not married my Mother Ruth in July 1953, and produced four children, our Dickens Family would have become extinct as it will do anyway as none of us are married or have children.
