Frances' parents were John Windus a solicitor who died in 1848 and Jane Mary Yarington (died 1869/70). They had married in Swaffham in 1823. Their first son, John W Windus (1825-1898) joined the prastice working in Epping. By 1851 the practice was called Windus and Amys at Hill House in Epping and was run by JWW and JDA in partnership.
