Rex married 1959 Winchester, Hampshire - Penelope M Collins born 1938; he married again 1978 Greenwich, London - Susan M Dunbar; he married again for the third time 1993 Droxford, Hampshire - Caroline Gemmell. His fourth marriage in 1996 was to the Hon. Sarah Grenville Peyton.

The Telegraph, dated 15 08 2001: 'Thrice divorced Industrialist has put £500,000 into a pioneering scheme to teach sixth formers about the realities of marriage. Rex Chester 66, a former Chairman of a Paint Manufacturing Company sold his family's estate in Hampshire to fund the project, which seeks to prevent divorce. A father of five who has been married for five years to his fourth wife. Awarded the MBE for services to young children in 2009. The above scheme is backed by three Bishops.'

Rex was the son of Reginald Percy Chester born 1889 Nottinghamshire and died June 1968 Winchester, Hampshire and Violet Gladys I Fernley born 1891 and died 1982 Winchester, Hampshire. They married March 1934 Brentford, Middlesex.

Coincidentally Rex served his National Service in 1st Bn. The Wiltshire Regiment before its amalgamation with the Berkshire Regiment and its eventual incorporation into The Rifles. (I too did my NS in 1st Bn. The Wiltshire Regiment, 1955-57 - Anthony Cobbold)
