Sidney was an artist and a graphic designer. He painted portraits of Rees and Cecilia Jenkins (#6860/1) and is said to have done design work for Marks & Spencer.
He attended the RMA Sandhurst in 1940 and painted as part of the War Artists' Advisory Committee (WAAC). His key work, 'Bombers Escorted by Fighters on a Daylight Sweep over the Channel' is owned by the Ministry of Defence. He exhibited with the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Professionally he was known as S Rodger or S R Rodger or S Robertson Rodger. In the 1939 Register he is single and living in Flat 17 Bolton Studios, Kensington, London.
