John married 5 8 1847 London to Emma Ellis Curtis (1825-1911)born in Surrey (census records show she was born at sea - a British Subject) and died 14/06/1911 Steyning, Sussex. They had 7 children. John wrote a pamphlet on the Manufacture of Gunpowder. One of their children was Welbore St. Clair Baddeley (1857-1945) who married Helen Georgiana Grant (1864-1951). Another was Julia Frances Ellis Eva Baddeley (1848-1931)
