Rear Admiral Parry was baptised on 17 01 1791.
He commanded Arctic Expeditions between 1819 and 1820 and again between 1821 and 1823. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Society in February 1821 and commanded yet another Arctic Expedition between 1824 and 1825. He was knighted on 29th April 1829 but did not achieve the rank of Rear Admiral until 4th June 1852. At the time of the 1851 census he was Superintendent of the Royal Hospital Haslar.
He died in Bad Ems, Germany on 8th July 1855 but his body was returned to London for burial in Greenwich Hospital Cemetery.
Rear Admiral Parry and his first wife Isabella Stanley had seven children. With his second wife Catherine, he had two children.
He was the son of Dr Caleb Hillier Parry born 21 10 1755 Gloucestershire and died 09 03 1922 Bath, Somerset, and Sarah Rigby born 03 05 1747 Lancashire and died 14 05 1831 Liverpool. Lancashire. They married 22 09 1778 Norwich, Norfolk and had eight children.
