Came to England from Jersey in about 1880 and was befriended by a Mercer as a result of which his 3 sons were educated at the Mercers' School. Girls were not admitted so Grace went to St Paul's Girls School as one of the original pupils and was the first to be awarded an Oxbridge Scholarship and their first at Cambridge
