Always known as Anderson so as to avoid cunfusion with his father. He was knighted in 1901 and was Surgeon-Oculist to King Edward VII between 1901 and 1910. He became a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 1905 and was created 1st Baronet Critchett of Harley Street, London on 28th November 1908. He was Senior Ophthalmic Surgeon at King George's Hospital, London and Consulting Ophthalmic Surgeon at St Mary's Hospital, Praed St, Paddington, London. He became Surgeon-Oculist to King George V from 1910 to 1925 and was invested KCVO and KGSt J. His fame in the field of Ophthalmic Medcine was the discovery of a reliable procedure for cateract removal following research carried out between 1880 and 1888 partly financed by his brother-in-law, Edward Boursot. He was also an excellent singer and very nearly went into entertainment rather than surgery but was persuaded by his father.
