#6699, Frances Augusta MARTIN

Frances Augusta Martin was the daughter of Francis Offley Martin, a barrister-at-law, and his wife Mary nee Smith, who married at Chesterton, Cambridge on 25th January 1844. She had a sister, Edith Philadelphia Martin. In 1851 the family was living at Stondon Place, Stondon Massey, Ongar, Essex and 10 years later at New Street, Hampton, Surrey. On the death of her father at Kensington in 1878, aged 73, his widow and Frances came to live at The Cottage, The Street, Coddenham, Suffolk. As Martin she was a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club from 1890-1891 and as Mrs Nunn from 1893-1905. She exhibited mainly local scenes and some of London and Windemere. In 1911 she was a patient at a private hospital at Eardley House, Sevenoaks, Kent.
