Harold spent most of his life as a carpet dealer in India and in WWI was awarded 2 medals for his support of the British war effort, one for financial support and the other for raising a force of Indian boatmen to support tha Allied force in Iraq. Bought Ipley Manor in 1926 but returned to India for a while thereafter.
