Capt. Mortimer and Catherine had 8 children. He was a Quaker birth. Two of his sons were David Ricardo 1841 - 1877 and Frank Ricardo born 1850 Woodstock, Oxfordshire and died 1897 Christchurch, Hampshire. He died from an infection of the middle ear which went to his brain inducing Septicaemia.
