The local paper said: The bride was given away by her brother, William Cobbold #5206 of Birmingham. The bridegroom has just returned to this country after spending two and a half years in Italy. The bride is an Ellesmere girl, and joined the ATS at the outbreak of war. She has three brothers serving in Germany, one brother in the Air Force in Canada, and a younger sister in the ATS. Her father, the late Sergt-Major Cobbold, was an old soldier of the last war, and was for several years an OTC Instructor at Ellesmere College. Mr & Mrs W Morton, senior, gave the reception and dance in honour of their son's return from Italy.
