Charles Walter Bagot was appointed Rector of Castle Rising, Norfolk in 1846. His Patrons were the Hon. FulkeGreville Howard and the Hon. Mary Howard his wife. He retained the living until his death in 1884. Interestingly the church is near Sandringham and has received much royal patronage over the years. It joined the Sandringham Group of churches in 1964.
Charles and Mary had at least 3 children. In addition to Charles shown below there was Lewis Richard Charles born 2/12/1846 and Ernest Alfred John born 30/3/1848, both of whom went to Marlborough College which had been founded shortly previously to help educate the sons of Clergy.
The Rev. Charles Walter Bagot's parents were the Hon the Rev Richard Bagot born 22/11/1782 in London who died 15/5/1854 in Steyning, Sussex and Harriet Henrietta Lady Villiers born 19/5/1788 in London who died 18/11/1870 at Elford Hall, Staffordshire. They had been married on 21/12/1806 in London and had 11 children. He was Bishop of Oxfordshire.
