#3, William COBBOLD

An inscription upon a large black marble slab by the communion rail in Boxford church reads "Sacred to William Cobbold clothier married Anne daughter of John Piper of Boxford. He deceased 27th Nov. 1638 aged 40 yrs, whose wife surviving him in chaste widowhood by the space of 24 years deceased 11th August 1662 being 58 years"

This William was the eldest son of Robert Cobbold of Tostock from whose 3rd son Reynold we are descended.

Copy of a note in the hand writing of John Cobbold of The Cliff and Holy Wells, Ipswich (1774-1860) found by FTC.

However, either the birth date or the date of his parents' marriage is wrong.
