Charles was baptised on 20 05 1804 and received into the church at Lyme Regis on 22 09 1804, sponsored by his grandparents and his great uncle - the anti-slavery campaigner and politician - William Wilberforce.
Charles was the second son of Abraham Spooner-Lillingston of Elmsdon Hall, Warwickshire. He gained a BA from Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1828, having been President of the Cambridge Union in 1826. Harriot and Charles lived at The Chantry, Ipswich.
He was buried on 03 09 1851.
