The following note was taken from a Biography by Peter Bassett-Smith - "William Smith (1831-1901) on the 29th March 1881 by Deed Poll registered his family name at Somerset House as Bassett-Smith."
William practised as an Architect from 10 John Street, now John Adams Street, near Charing Cross Station, London. Walter Bassett Bassett-Smith, along with his brother, joined their father as Architects.
