She became engaged to Alfred on 11/11/1881. They married on 30/8/1883 and she died on 10/1/1885 just 9 days after the birth of her daughter. By so doing she fulfilled the curse and fear of the Hawkins family; death through childbirth.
She is buried in the churchyard at Dedham in a plot next to the one to be occupied later by her parents-in-law.
