John was born John Marjoribanks Guild. In 1970 he legally changed to John Marjoribanks Chevallier Guild by Deed Poll.
Educated at BRNC, Dartmouth
After a career in RN (he served on Britannia 1959, commanded HMS Badminton, Upton and Bronington 1965-67) took over the business in 1970/71. Passed the business on to his two sons.
