Mary Beatrice's mother was Mary Elizabeth, nee Harland, widow of Thomas Entwisle who died in 1879. At the time of Mary Beatrice' baptism on 22/07/1857 the family was living at 3 Connaught Place West. Her father was a county magistrate in Hampshire but they probably maintained a London home. The 1851 census shows him as a JP and a non-practicing barrister in Staffordshire.
