William Jary married Mary Heath. Their daughter was Mary Jary. Mary Jary married first Joseph Salisbury but they divorced on 3rd May 1830. She married secondly Richard Hanbury Gurney just two weeks later on 17th May 1830. Their first child, Mary Jary Gurney was born illegitimately in 1829.
Mary Jary Gurney married firstly in 1846 John Henry Gurney (Sr) and they had two sons, John Henry Gurney (Jr) born 1848 or 49 and Richard Hanbury Joseph Gurney born 1855 who died 6/5/1899.
She married secondly William Taylor on 11th March 1862 in Perivale, Middlesex. William was born in Cley next the Sea, Norfolk in about 1837. Her second marriage was scandalous as William Taylor was a groom employed in the stables. Their relationship cut brutally across Victorian class convention but Mary felt it was a true love match and as such nothing (least of all stuffy old convention) should stand in the way. Her published apology directs attention at the hazards of inter-family marriages.
