| Mother | Rieta Henrietta Katherinr HENDREY (1893 - 1970) |
3rd child. Her first job was teaching at Benenden School in Kent before she moved to Croydon High School. She was subsequently appointed Chairman of Hamleys the famous Regent Street toy shop which had been bought by her family business, Lines Bros. It was Peggy that drew the original row of men in bright red coats and top hats, one of the most recognisable designs to this day. She remained at Hamleys after the demise of Lines Bros until 1976 when the shop was taken over by Debenhams.
The Instow seafront in N Devon was her chosen retirement place where, never one to be idle she embarked upon writing 'From G & J to Tri-ang, The Lines Family Toy Bussinesses, The First 80 years.'
This exceptional and extravagently illustrated book is edited by her nephew, Anthony Lowth #4534. Sadly, Peggy didn't live to see her masterpiece published in 2015. There is, of course, a copy in the Trust library
