#1366, Christopher Thomas Bremner PURVIS

Christopher Purvis was educated at Bradfield and Keble College, Oxford (a college endowed by the Gibbs family) before joining S G Warburg in 1974. He became a director in 1983 and managed the Tokyo office from 1982 to 1987 and from 1989 to 1992. He was Managing Director, SBC Warburg from 1995 to 1997 and continued as an advisor until 2009. He is or has been a trustee, and in some instances chairman, of numerous investment trusts. In addition to being a committee member of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, 1990-92 he served as chief executive of Japan 2001 Ltd for 3 years from 1999. A substantial share of his time is and has been given to charitable organisations and his love of music is manifest in his chairmanship of the Academy of Ancient Music and his governorship of the Royal Academy of Music from 2004 to 2007.
