Colin's father was Lewis Harold Baylis (1884-1965) and his mother was Beatrice Clara Rose who was born in Melbourne, Australia and died in 1974. Colin was the youngest of four siblings: Vera Joan (m.Lionel Lawson & 4 children); Joan May (m. Jack Sewell & 2 children) and Geoffrey Lewis (m. Beth Davies & 3 children).
