"On Sunday, a little boy aged four years, son of Alfred Cobbold, Labourer, was playing with other children and was pushed backwards into a ditch getting all his clothes wet through. He was taken home, had all his clothes changed as quickly as possible and did not seem much worse. He was taken ill on Wednesday afternoon with sickness. His father went to see Mr Kilner the Parish Doctor at Bury who gave him some medicine and promised to call in the morning. At seven in the morning the child died without being seen by a doctor."
