David Leslie Picket was educated at Horsenden Secondary School; marine engineering apprenticeship, R & H Green and Silley Weir.
He was the elder son of Arthur Leslie Pickett, at that time aircraft fitter (died January 1998) and of Gladys (died July 1998) of South Ruislip, Middlesex.
