Sir William was widely known simply as 'Kittybrewster'. He worked at Arbuthnot Latham Holdings from 1970 to 1976;Joynson-Hicks & Co between 1978 and1981 and was deputy chairman of High Premium Group and a director of ALM Ltd in 1997.
His first love was genealogy from which he sorted out the very complicated Arbuthnot family, managed their comprehensive family tree and was enormously helpful to all enquirers.
He had a child, Thomasina Lucy Arbuthnot Bowyer-Bower on 31st December 1998 by Tanya Bowyer-Bower and went on to marry Louise Alexandra Mary Barry on 26th August 2010 in London by whom he had 2 children:
