Nicky could reasonably be termed the world's original survivor. He was born a Downs child and needed open heart bypass surgery before he was two years old. This was successfully carried out by Tom Karl at the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne, Australia on 17th September 1999.

Since then he has conquered cancer and graves disease to become the happiest and most affectionate person imaginable. In school and at camp he mixed freely with all the other children and is both loved and appreciated by everybody.

Of course he has achieved all this himself but not without the most painstaking and tender loving care of his parents.
